5 Post-Sun Skin Care Tips You Need to Know

Part 2: Post-Sun Tips

The sizzling summer sun, humid weather and excess sweat can wreak havoc on your skin. Whether it’s as minor as a pimple or as serious as a sunburn, following a few simple steps will have your skin looking its best after you’ve spent time in the sun and sea.

1. Take a Cool Shower, ASAP
The longer chlorine and salt sit on your skin, the more they dehydrate and irritate. Shower off as soon as you get out of the water to minimize irritated skin. The cool water will also reduce inflammation and calm overexposed areas.

2. Apply Moisturizer on Damp Skin
Applying a moisturizer to your damp body and face help lock-in moisture to give longer lasting hydration and softness.

3. DIY Sunburn Yogurt Mask
A few basic ingredients that you probably have in your fridge can give you sunburn relief without the chemicals and alcohol found in may drugstore products.

Sunburn Soother Yogurt Mask:

What you need:
2 tbsp greek yogurt (plain)
1 bag of chamomile tea
1 cucumber or fresh aloe leaf
5-6 drops of Organic Omega Booster face oil

What you make:
Steep and cool 1 bag of chamomile tea.
Mash up the cucumber pulp or aloe leaf
Add add contents of cooled tea bag
Add the greek yogurt and mix well in a bowl
Blend in the Organic Omega Booster

What you do:
On clean skin apply a thick layer liberally to the entire burn area. Once the mixture dries, apply a second layer, this can be done up to 3 times depending on severity of the burn. Leave on for 20-30 minutes or as long as your able. The longer the mixture stays, the more it will help. Rinse with cool water and apply very gently pure Organic Omega Booster oil (this may be reapplied as needed). The mask may be performed twice daily until your burn goes away.

4. Treat & Prevent Sun Spots
Nothing looks worse than the sun reflecting on caked on makeup attempting to cover up an uneven complexion. Most skin lighteners are not made to be used during the day or summer season because they tend to thin skin and make it very photosensitive. There are ingredients we have found to perform better in the sun. The daisy flower (Bellis Perennis) is a lightening ingredient that is activated in the sun to lighten existing discoloration while blocking enzymes that create new sun damage. This is a genius breakthrough ingredient that should be used one to two times a day with an SPF30. If you are going to be in the sun or if your skin is more sensitive- use once a day only in the evening.
