What are the disadvantages of mineral sunscreen?
The biggest drawback is the white or gray cast many mineral sunscreens leave, especially on deeper skin tones. Some formulas also feel thick, greasy, or hard to spread, and they can rub off with sweat or towel use, so they need regular reapplication. Because minerals sit on the surface, applying too thin a layer can leave gaps in coverage. Newer formulas have improved a lot by using finer particles and lighter bases. Day Drops SPF 50 uses micronized zinc oxide in a serum texture designed to blend with zero white cast. Sun Bae adds a sheer universal tint to offset any cast. Whatever you choose, reapply every two hours outdoors. See our sunburn dos and don'ts.
